  • Living conditions are worst in Western hemisphere.
  • Maternal mortality is 300 per 100,000 births, with national average of 3.7 children per woman.

  • Life expectancy is 60 yrs-male, and 63 yrs-female. This is up from 55 yrs each in 2000.
