What I Will Be Doing
Our volunteers will be offering medical clinics, health education classes and community service projects for the area. We will be working with local physicians to provide primary healthcare for all ages. The health education classes will cover general hygiene, disease prevention, infant care, CPR and First-Aid training. The classes will be open to the public and health officials in the area. We are not completely set in details for community service. No matter where we end up, we are always excited to be helping out.
We are excited to go work somewhere we haven’t been before. Being able to help the lives of others and improve their community’s well being is something we’re really looking forward to.
A Little About J.D. Calvin
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page for this year's trip to Lukula, Democratic Republic of the Congo this August! For nearly three years now I've been a member and volunteer with GFR, a local non-profit, serving the global community. I'm so proud of what this organization has done in such a short amount of time. I don't know of any other group delivering such a diverse range of services.
For this trip, our team is comprised of doctors, nurses, contractors and grunts (me). We pride ourselves as the team that doesn't "treat and leave.” We serve many roles while on the ground reaching beyond medical relief. I will personally assist in the installation of solar panels in the area clinic and building and installing an incinerator for the clinic's hazardous materials.
Honestly, I have no idea how much to ask you for, but is a gift of $50 something you'd be able to consider? Your donation will go directly to this Congo mission and supplies needed for the incinerator and solar panels. Thank you for your support, please help me by sharing this page. It really does make an impact.
