The Himalayan Rescue Association is a voluntary non-profit organization formed with an objective to prevent deaths from acute mountain sickness and other accidents and illness that can be encountered in the mountains of Nepal.

Volunteers must be physicians, usually from the primary care specialties. Emergency physicians and family practitioners are the norm, but others may be considered if they have enough experience beyond their own fields.
