Global First Responder

International Medical Relief and Medical Missions

Global First Responder (GFR) is a nonprofit, secular international medical relief organization founded in 2011 by Dr. Adam Beckett. After realizing a need for a central network for relief agencies and associated volunteers, he developed a website to meet this need and started GFR, which assembles teams that have served in various capacities on high-impact, short-term trips across 14 countries—to date—in conjunction with multiple organizations. Teams are primarily comprised of individuals with medical skills but also often include those with skill sets in construction and teaching—with agricultural specialists soon to be added to team efforts. The diversity of teams is key because GFR’s primary focus is not solely healthcare delivery; health education and community development projects such as school and hospital construction are also prioritized. When possible, GFR also provides rapid response teams to natural disasters, which is a long-term goal it plans to increase involvement in as it grows.
